GovPayNet

Role

I worked as a UX/UI Designer at Aventiv on the GovPayNet project. GovPayNet is an internal tool used by staff to manage payment services for government clients.

The system allows teams to assign payment hardware, set user permissions, and control who can process payments. It also includes other important admin tools that help keep payment operations organized, secure, and running smoothly.

Challenge

The company wanted to add new pages to the GovPayNet web app to support new features and improve how the tool worked. GovPayNet was first built by an outside development team and had not been updated in many years. There were no original design files, style guides, or documentation available.

Because of this, it was hard for the team to make changes without risking visual or usability issues. They needed a designer who could carefully recreate the existing app in design software, understand how it worked, and then design new screens that matched the current look and feel. The goal was to add new features while keeping the experience familiar and easy for users.

Solution

To solve this problem, I was given read-only access to the web app. I carefully reviewed every page and used a browser tool to capture full-page screenshots of the entire system.

Next, I brought those screenshots into my design software and recreated the interface piece by piece. This helped rebuild the app’s design accurately, even though no original design files existed.

Once the base design was complete, I added the new screens using the requirements from the JIRA tickets. These updated designs gave the internal development team a clear guide, making it easy for them to build and launch the new features successfully.
